Torah Portions: Tishrei 27, 5776 Gen. 1:1-6:8 ~ Is. 42:5-43:10 ~ Matt 1-2
“Elohim’s Torah is a hidden treasure of light and Life.”
As we open up our Holy Scriptures to Gen1:1, we are blessed to read:” In the Beginning Elohim created both the heavens and the earth.”
This topic with be a combined commentary that is biblically backed up using information from El Shaddai Ministries, Dr. Hollisa Alewine’s Creation Gospel, and my own commentary based off of the Holy Scriptures interpretations.
Elohim speaks of God as King and ruler. He is above all and has created everything.
YHVH is merciful, and isn’t introduced until later in Genesis, as man cannot live under strict justice alone. Man needs a merciful G-d or else we couldn’t exist. HIS righteous is too powerful against our sinful nature.
Let’s take a closer look at “Bereishit.” It means “In the Beginning.” HE is the beginning and the end. The first letter of the Hebrew letter is “Aleph;” which is silent. “Beit” is the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The Father is silent and speaks through HIS son, the Messiah. Beit is the second Hebrew letter which means “to build.” This clearly tells us that Elohim created through the Messiah (Merciful).
“Reshit” also means First Fruits (the Messiah). And even the Jews believe that the Messiah’s name is “Reshit (ray-sheet).” “Beit” also means by or for. So we can see that Creation was built/made in the beginning, by the Messiah. This is so amazing!!
One thing we have to understand is that our English Bibles lost some things during translation. One might say we got “ripped-off.” As we look back in Genesis 1:1 the 4th word is missing the Hebraic meaning Aleph Tav (את). The Aleph Tav is the beginning and the end. HE is the beginning and the end. As in their (22) Hebrew letters, we have (24) English letters in our alphabet.
Now some may not know, but in Hebrew, they read in the opposite direction that we do. So you have to look at the letter (symbol) on the right; reading right to left.
Now let’s stop a minute and look up John 1:1 in our Holy Scriptures.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Isn’t interesting, as we look into the New Testament (Writings), it tells us to go back to the beginning –the Tanack (Old Testament). Looking closer into John 1:1, we can easily see that the WORD is from the beginning at Creation—YESHUA (Salvation)!
Some may be surprised to hear this, but let’s look at the second and third verse:
John 1:2-3 2 “He was with God in the beginning.3 All things came to be through him, and without him nothing made had being.”
The Holy Scriptures solidify that YESHUA is the Word of G-d and spoke everything into existence through the Ruah ha’Kodesh (Holy Spirit).
John 1:14 is one of my favorite verses verifies my above statement:
John 1:14 “The Word became a human being and lived with us, and we saw his Sh’khinah, the Sh’khinah of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.”
1”In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.2And the earth came to bea formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters.3And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be.4And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness.5And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day.”
It is very important to understand that “Torah/Law” also means G-d’s instructions. And HaShem (G-d) said that the Torah is Good. Also, Paul loved to follow and teach from the Torah. He, too, said it was good for instruction.
2 Timothy 3:15-17
15 “and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; 17 thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.”
We certainly can’t forget Proverbs 6:23
3 “For the mitzvah is a lamp, Torah is light, and reproofs that discipline are the way to life.”
Mitzvah is Hebrew for Commandments. So right there, it says, that HIS Torah (Law/Instructions) is Light! WHO is light? YESHUA! And reproofs that discipline is the way to life. ‘WHO’ is the way, the truth and the life? YESHUA, of course!! So WHO is TORAH? YESHUA! He is the Word; breathed out by the Ruach ha’Kodesh.
One cannot remove Torah by calling it abolished. That would remove Yeshua (Light). Yeshua means Salvation. Who in their right mind would want to abolish Salvation? Only Ha’satan wants to remove salvation. It IS very critical and wrong-thinking when Christians say the Torah has been abolished. Ha’satan is the father of lies and will stop at nothing to deceive others. Let’s stop here and think for just a minute and ask ourselves if Ha’satan would desire to remove HIS WAY and place it with our own desires, or a counterfeit? Did he not question G-d’s authority back in the garden when he asked Eve did G-d really said that….?
Today Ha’satan is doing the same thing in the churches by asking us did He really say to follow Torah…?
Yeshua is the living Torah!
Sadly, many have no idea what they’re saying and that is because “Doctrines of Men” teachings are through Greek/Western glasses, not Hebrew. Yeshua is/was Hebrew.
20 ‘”To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
Who is the testimony? Yeshua (Salvation)! If they do not speak according to THIS Word, there is NO light in them! So to abolish Torah then that brings forth DARKNESS!
Now let’s look at Revelation 12:17
The dragon, Ha’satan, went off and waged war against those who kept the commands of Elohim by possessing the witness of Yeshua Messiah ha’ Mashiach! Are you sure we should abolish the testimony? NO!
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved. 18 Those who trust in him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son.
19 “Now this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, but people loved the darkness rather than the light. Why? Because their actions were wicked. 20 For everyone who does evil things hates the light and avoids it, so that his actions won’t be exposed. 21 But everyone who does what is true comes to the light, so that all may see that his actions are accomplished through God.”
Torah is the Light and Truth and only the wicked want to abolish it. We need to have right thinking– Hebraic understanding. This is very serious!
Let’s briefly recap:
Let there be light, and light came into the world. There was light, but man hated darkness. G-d created the light and said it was good, but wicked men hated the light, and therefore G-d separated the light from the darkness. Those who hate darkness do not want light, and those who love truth, want to walk in the light—TORAH!
Torah is the living truth and light. If we do not want to be reproved (to be teachable), then the alternative states we do not want the light, nor Yeshua; who is the light!!
Genesis 3:23- 24
23 “therefore Adonai, God, sent him out of the garden of ‘Eden to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. 24 So he drove the man out, and he placed at the east of the garden of ‘Eden the k’ruvim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.”
When Adam and Eve (Chavah) sinned, they had to leave the garden. When they sinned, there was a separation between them and the Father. The Tree of Life was then guarded by Angels with swords until Elohim prepared a WAY back to HIM-through Yeshua!
For us to enter back into the garden to have immortality, we need SOMEONE WHO can take us through the WAY!
“Lord Yeshua proclaimed in Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (The Aleph and Tav תא)
In Revelation1:11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” (The Aleph and Tav תא)
Revelation 21:6 He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. (The Aleph and Tav תא) Revelation 22:13“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” (The Aleph and Tav תא)
Adonai Yeshua is the Aleph and Tav תא found within the Torah. By seeing the Aleph and the Tav we know that these are Yeshua words. Yeshua said in John 5:46 “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.(We see the Aleph and Tav תא also validating this as Yeshua’s words found within Torah).”
The Good News!!
Just like the Kerubims that guarded the Tree of Life, we cannot just go through the Holy of Holies by ourselves as there is a sword. We need ONE who can take us there.
2 “Adonai said to Moshe, “Tell your brother Aharon not to come at just any time into the Holy Place beyond the curtain, in front of the ark-cover which is on the ark, so that he will not die; because I appear in the cloud over the ark-cover.”
Elohim is telling us that we cannot return by ourselves; especially based on our own terms (prideful). HE is an all- consuming fire. We cannot return to the garden without HIS help that HE has provided—YESHUA! Yeshua is the WAY to the Tree of Life.
It is amazing to know that the Garden of Eden was not part of the Creation. He didn’t speak it into existence. He planted it HIMSELF. HE IS the gardener!!
When Elohim created Adam, he formed Adam outside of the garden, breathed-life into him, and then placed him in the garden. Do you recall back when Yeshua died, was buried, and rose when Miriam came to the tomb? She didn’t recognize her Savior. And when Yeshua asked her “Why are you weeping?” “Who are you looking for?” She thought he was the gardener.
HE WAS THE GARDENER of all creation!!!
I find it amazing to learn (many miss this), that Adam was the one who was given the commandment not to eat the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve wasn’t even made yet. She was designed from Adam’s rib later on. It was Adam who forgot about G-d. Yes, Eve sinned because she desired to have more knowledge (pride). But Adam blamed G-d and Eve without taking any responsibility that he had forgotten about G-d and listened to a different master. OUCH!
15 “[i]Adonai, God, took the person and put him in the garden of ‘Eden to cultivate and care for it. 16 Adonai, God, gave the person this order: “You may freely eat from every tree in the garden 17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You are not to eat from it, because on the day that you eat from it, it will become certain that you will die.”
18 Adonai, God, said, “It isn’t good that the person should be alone. I will make for him a companion suitable for helping him.” 19 So from the ground Adonai, God, formed every wild animal and every bird that flies in the air, and he brought them to the person to see what he would call them. Whatever the person would call each living creature, that was to be its name. (S: iii) 20 So the person gave names to all the livestock, to the birds in the air and to every wild animal. But for Adam there was not found a companion suitable for helping him.
21 Then God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the person; and while he was sleeping, he took one of his ribs and closed up the place from which he took it with flesh. 22 The rib which Adonai, God, had taken from the person, he made a woman-person; and he brought her to the man-person. 23 The man-person said, “At last! This is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh. She is to be called Woman [c], because she was taken out of Man [d].
G-d brought forth the woman to be Adam’s “protector.” We will talk more on that later on a different topic.
This Torah Portion is about the Creation of the heavens and the earth. Man was nothing until Elohim breathed life into him. The Haftorah is about the creation of the Nation of Israel.
“Thus says God, Adonai, who created the heavens and spread them out, who stretched out the earth and all that grows from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it: 6 “I, Adonai, called you righteously, I took hold of you by the hand, I shaped you and made you a covenant for the people, to be a light for the Goyim, 7 so that you can open blind eyes, free the prisoners from confinement, those living in darkness from the dungeon. 8 I am Adonai; that is my name. I yield my glory to no one else, nor my praise to any idol.”
Just as Elohim gave light in Creation (before the sun, moon and stars were created), He is also going to build up Israel for them to bring HIS light to the Gentiles, and to the nations that are in darkness. As He separated light from the darkness in Creation, HE also separated Israel from the Nations with HIS covenant to be SET APART. HaShem is going to hold the hand of Israel, and lead them to HIM.
We, too, have been called to be SET APART from the world, but the non-Jews are to be “Grafted-in” with Israel to be in One Accord (Echad), One Belief, and One G-d.
21 “Adonai was pleased, for his righteousness’ sake, to make the Torah great and glorious. 22 But this is a people pillaged and plundered, all trapped in holes and sequestered in prisons. They are there to be plundered, with no one to rescue them; there to be pillaged, and no one says, “Return them!” 23 Which of you will listen to this? Who will hear and give heed in the times to come?”
Acts 3:19-22 19“Repent therefore and turn back, for the blotting out of your sins, in order that times of refreshing might come from the presence of the Master,20and that He sends יהושע Messiah, pre-appointed for you,21whom heaven needs to receive until the times of restoration of all matters, of which Elohim spoke through the mouth of all His set-apart prophets since of old.22“For Mosheh truly said to the fathers, ‘יהוה your Elohim shall raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brothers. Him you shall hear according to all matters, whatever He says to you.”
Acts was written after Yeshua had died, was buried, resurrected, and ascended to heaven. So Acts is talking about the 2nd coming, not the first.
The Father is telling us that HIS Torah must be restored and the Light/Torah is not abolished. He is the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father without going through Yeshua, the Redeemer. Yeshua isn’t coming back until all things are restored through HIM. The Torah (Yeshua/Light/Truth) is to be honored and magnified. Darkness wants to put it away and say it was abolished, and not to follow the law/Torah. Why would we want to put out the light/Salvation?
“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no Messiah.
HaShem separated Israel and they became scattered. But HE will have an in-gathering; calling back HIS people to Israel when there is a restoration of Israel, and perhaps the temple.”
In Matthew 1:1 it records that the Messiah came from the house of David. Yeshua is the son of David.
12 “ Yeshua spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light which gives life.”
Now here is a verse that will knock your socks off:
10“And I shall pour on the house of Dawiḏ and on the inhabitants of Yerushalayim a spirit of favour and prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son. And they shall be in bitterness over Him as a bitterness over the first-born.”
After reading through these verses, we can now verify the truth of the Torah is our Savior, Yeshua the Messiah. He is the light of this world, and whoever follows Yeshua/Torah will never walk in darkness but will have the light of LIFE! Imagine how many mainstream Christians cry out stating that the “Torah has been done away with”, “It was nailed to the cross”, and “It’s abolished!” Only to come to the understanding that it’s Ha’satan who has been deceiving us/them. This is craziness and wrong-thinking.
Only those who live in darkness would want to get rid of the Torah and not live by HIS Instructions.
Without the Torah there is no Yeshua, no light, no salvation, and no Word to live by. If there wasn’t a Word that was breathed-out by the Ruach ha’ Kodesh, there wouldn’t be Adonai (One Who took the mercy seat), and we couldn’t exist in our sinful nature, and no truth.
Praise Adonai that HE did bring forth Torah for us to have the WAY back to HIM through Yeshua .
He is the living water!!
37 Now on the last day of the festival, Hoshana Rabbah, Yeshua stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him keep coming to me and drinking! 38 Whoever puts his trust in me, as the Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from his inmost being!”
The (4) Rivers will flow out from HIS inmost being. Just like in the beginning, in the Garden of Eden, the (4) Rivers flowed.
10” A river went out of ‘Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided into four streams. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it winds throughout the land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx stone are also found there. 13 The name of the second river is Gichon; it winds throughout the land of Kush. 14 The name of the third river is Tigris; it is the one that flows toward the east of Ashur. The fourth river is the Euphrates.”
Stay-tuned to Bereishit Part 2 as we venture into the Creation Gospel where we explore the 4 rivers and its significance to Creation and the Living water of our Savior, Yeshua!
